Tabla
The tabla (from the Arabic tabl, meaning “drum”) is a percussion instrument used in North Indian music. It consists of two small drums with skins featuring a characteristic circular eye, which are played with the fingers of both hands. It has a wide range of sounds for a percussion instrument. Since the 1960s, it has also been used in Western pop and jazz music because of its sound.

Daf
The daf is a frame drum that is mainly played in Persia (in present-day Iran and parts of Turkey, Afghanistan, Iraq, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan). It is lightweight, so it can be played in the hand. It is an important ceremonial drum for Islamic Sufis in the Persian region. Metal rings are attached to the 6 cm wide frame, giving the instrument its very own sound. The daf is covered with goat or lamb skin and usually has a diameter of 50 to 60 cm. Traditionally, it is made from a single piece of bent wood.
